Higher Education

Alcorn State University (ASU) is located at 15 Campus Drive, right across the street from the community college and offers a top-notch nursing school and masters in business administration degree. The branch of the historically black university opened with the school of nursing in 1977. The university's main campus is about 40 miles north of Natchez in Lorman. The main campus was founded in 1871, and has an enrollment of 3,254.

The school has a football, basketball and baseball teams, among other sports. Local schools offer programs leading to the associate, baccalaureate, master's and specialist degrees. Call 601-304-4300 for additional details.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Co-Lin), located at 11 Co-Lin Circle, opened its Natchez campus doors in 1972. The college offers a wide selection of career and technical programs and has participated in the job-specific training of local businesses and industries. Many full-time workers, senior citizens and interested citizens in the area attend night classes at the college for continuing education classes.
