Physical Fitness Standards

Candidates will be given one opportunity to successfully pass the elimination. It is important that all candidates understand this since even a physically fit person who has engaged in poor eating or drinking habits before reporting could fail the test.

Physical fitness can only be achieved over time. It requires a commitment to regular exercise and good eating habits. Thus it is important to disseminate this information so that all impacted personnel can prepare ahead of time.

Note: The 3 mile walk is strictly a substitute for those candidates who are unable to participate in the 1.5 mile run because of medical reasons. These medical reasons must be documented by a medical doctor and submitted to the instructor. If this documentation is not present, the 1.5 mile test must be administered. (A walk is defined as locomotion of the candidate at a pace in which one foot is in full contact with the ground at all times)
